Kavinder flays J&K Budget for neglecting aspirations of J&K youth

Asks CM Omar to ensure benefits of central schemes reach every citizen of J&K

Jammu, March 7: Senior BJP leader and former Deputy Chief Minister, Kavinder Gupta today expressed deep dissatisfaction with the Jammu and Kashmir budget presented by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, highlighting significant omissions in the budget, particularly concerning unemployed youth, marginalized communities, and daily wage laborers.
After participating in the meeting held at the Party Headquarters in Jammu, Kavinder Gupta emphasized that the budget lacks concrete provisions to address the pressing issue of unemployment among the youth of Jammu and Kashmir. He reminded the Chief Minister of his electoral promise to create 100,000 jobs and asked the government to present a clear roadmap to fulfill this commitment. “The youth are the backbone of our society, and their employment should be a top priority. Unfulfilled promises only lead to disillusionment,” he stated.
The senior BJP leader also expressed concern over the absence of targeted measures for marginalized communities, including Other Backward Classes (OBCs), Scheduled Castes (SCs), and Scheduled Tribes (STs). “These communities have historically faced socio-economic challenges. It is imperative that the budget includes specific allocations and programs to uplift and empower them,” he asserted.
Furthermore, Gupta highlighted the plight of daily wage laborers, who have been adversely affected by economic fluctuations. He criticized the budget for not providing adequate support mechanisms for this vulnerable segment of the workforce. “Daily wage laborers are among the most affected during economic downturns. The government’s failure to address their concerns in the budget is a glaring oversight,” he remarked.
In addition to critiquing the state budget, Kavinder lauded the Central Government, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, for launching several flagship schemes aimed at holistic development. He called upon Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to ensure that the benefits of these central schemes reach every citizen of Jammu and Kashmir. “The Central Government has introduced numerous initiatives for the welfare of all citizens. It is the responsibility of the state government to implement these schemes effectively, ensuring that no one is left behind,” Gupta noted.
The senior BJP leader called for a more inclusive and comprehensive budget that addresses the needs of all sections of society. He urged the Omar Abdullah-led government to prioritize policies that promote employment, support marginalized communities, and provide relief to daily wage laborers. “A budget should reflect the aspirations of the people. It must be inclusive and forward-looking, ensuring equitable growth and development,” he added.
