LG Manoj Sinha Commends J&K Police for Nation-Building, Youth Engagement, and Counterterrorism Efforts
Lieutenant Governor praises police for organizing Jashn-e-Dal water sports event, fostering unity, and promoting civic responsibility among youth
Srinagar, Sep 15: Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha attended the closing ceremony of Jashn-e-Dal, a water sports event organized by the Jammu and Kashmir Police at Dal Lake, Srinagar, and congratulated the force for its significant role in nation building, maintaining public safety, and countering terrorism.
Addressing the gathering, the LG highlighted the proactive engagement of J&K Police with local communities and its dedication to empowering youth. “Jammu Kashmir Police’s commitment to integrity and protection of the nation’s internal security is commendable,” he said.
The Lieutenant Governor also appreciated the police for organizing the annual sporting tournament at Dal Lake, emphasizing its focus on youth engagement, fostering unity, and promoting camaraderie among athletes.
He urged athletes to inspire young people to pursue their goals while staying away from drugs, and emphasized that sports serve as a unifying force and a tool for social change. The LG encouraged youth to actively participate in community development, nation-building, and environmental initiatives.
Highlighting successful public participation in preserving lakes, rivers, and natural resources, the LG called upon young volunteers to lead campaigns during the upcoming ‘Sewa Parv’ starting September 17, 2025, including cleanliness drives, tree plantation programs, and assistance to marginalized communities.
The three-day Jashn-e-Dal event saw participation from around 750 athletes across various water sports disciplines. During the closing ceremony, the LG took a ceremonial salute at the pedal pass and felicitated the winners.
The event was attended by DGP Shri Nalin Prabhat, Special DG Coordination PHQ Shri S.J.M. Gillani, ADGP Armed Shri Anand Jain, senior officials of Police and Civil Administration, members of water sports associations, sports clubs, and prominent sports personalities.
