Actress alerts fans and industry professionals about a WhatsApp scam misusing her photos
Mumbai, Nov 17 : Actress Aditi Rao Hydari faced an unexpected scare this weekend after discovering that someone had been impersonating her on WhatsApp. The Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar star took to Instagram on Sunday to caution fans, friends and industry professionals about a scammer using her photographs to contact people under her name.
Aditi revealed that several people informed her earlier in the day about an individual who had been messaging photographers while pretending to be her. The impersonator reportedly reached out to them for “photoshoots” and attempted to make direct contact using a WhatsApp account displaying her pictures.
The actress quickly clarified that she never uses personal numbers for work-related communication, stressing that all her professional interactions are handled exclusively by her team. Urging the public to remain vigilant, she wrote, “Please be careful and don’t engage with that number,” and asked people to notify her team if they encounter any suspicious activity.
Despite the unsettling experience, Aditi has recently been in the news for a more heartwarming reason. Last month, she shared joyful pictures from her visit to an animal rescue centre, where she spent time cuddling and caring for dogs. Praising the rescuers as “incredibly inspiring humans,” she also sent a strong message to animal abusers, saying such people deserve “tight slaps” for their cruelty.
