Syed Modi Badminton: Top Seeds Unnati Hooda and Jason Teh Shine, Srikanth Advances

Hooda and Teh dominate, former champion Srikanth keeps strong campaign alive at Lucknow Super 300

India, Nov 28 : Top seeds Unnati Hooda and Jason Teh made a commanding start on Day 2 of the Syed Modi International 2025, while former champion Kidambi Srikanth also advanced to the next round at the Babu Banarasi Das Indoor Stadium in Lucknow.

In the women’s singles, top seed Hooda defeated compatriot Aakarshi Kashyap 21-13, 21-18, displaying sharp rally control and strong finishes in both games. In men’s singles, Singapore’s top seed Teh overcame Rithvik Sanjeevi 21-19, 21-17, staying composed during crucial points to book his spot in the round of 16.

Former Syed Modi winner Srikanth, seeded fifth, produced a fluent 21-13, 21-10 win over Kavin Thangam, keeping his campaign on track for another deep run. Other notable singles results included Rakshitha Sree Santhosh Ramraj (21-12, 21-14) and Kiran George (21-17, 21-9) advancing comfortably.

In doubles, Singapore’s top seeds Terry Hee and Jin Yujia defeated Ayush Makhija and Simran Singhi 23-21, 21-10 in mixed doubles. In women’s doubles, Indian sisters Gayatri and Mansa Rawat registered a 21-11, 21-18 victory over Arathi Sunil and Varshini Viswanath. A close all India mixed doubles contest saw C Lalramsanga and Taarini Suri overcome Bhavya Chhabra and Vishakha Toppo 25-23, 21-14.

The 37th edition of the Syed Modi International, a BWF World Tour Super 300 event with a total prize pool of $240,000, will run from November 25-30, 2025. Singles champions will earn $18,000 and 7000 ranking points, while doubles winners take home $18,960.

India will miss young sensation Ayush Shetty, who withdrew from the tournament.
