New Delhi, Nov 29: ICC Chairman Jay Shah has been conferred with the ‘Outstanding Achievement Award for Contributions to Indian Women’s Cricket’ at the CNN-News18 Indian of the Year Award ceremony.
Accepting the honour on Friday, Shah dedicated the award to India’s women cricketers, especially the current national team that recently clinched the ICC Women’s World Cup.
“Harman (Harmanpreet Kaur) is here, and so are Jhulan Di and Mithali, and I would like to dedicate this award to all of you,” Shah said, acknowledging the icons who have shaped women’s cricket in India.
Reflecting on his tenure as BCCI Secretary, Shah highlighted the major reforms undertaken to strengthen Indian cricket from strengthening the domestic structure to sealing a landmark media rights deal.
During his term, which concluded in December 2024, Shah also implemented several transformative decisions including pay parity for men and women cricketers and the successful launch of the Women’s Premier League (WPL), a move widely hailed as a game changer for women’s cricket globally.
