Lionel Messi wraps up multi-city India tour, meets fans, celebrities, and sports icons during final leg in Jamnagar

Jamnagar, Dec 16: Lionel Messi concluded his much anticipated GOAT India Tour with a visit to Vantara, the wildlife rescue and conservation centre in Jamnagar, hosted by Anant Ambani. This marked the final stop of the Argentine superstar’s multi-city tour across India, which included Kolkata, Hyderabad, Mumbai, and Delhi.

During the tour, Messi engaged with thousands of fans, participated in celebrity exhibition matches, and interacted with players, offering football enthusiasts rare on-field experiences. In Delhi, he addressed supporters at Arun Jaitley Stadium, speaking briefly in Spanish and joining a celebrity exhibition match between the Minerva Messi All Stars and the Celebrity Messi All Stars.

ICC Chairman Jay Shah felicitated Messi at the stadium, presenting him with an invitational ticket to India’s opening match of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, alongside a customised Team India cricket jersey and bat. Messi’s Inter Miami teammates Luis Suárez and Rodrigo De Paul also received jerseys bearing numbers 9 and 7, respectively. Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, former football captain Bhaichung Bhutia, and DDCA President Rohan Jaitley were present at the event.

In Mumbai, Messi met sports and Bollywood personalities, including Sachin Tendulkar, Sunil Chhetri, Ajay Devgn, and Tiger Shroff, and engaged with Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. The Hyderabad leg was praised for its smooth organisation, contrasting the initial chaos during the Kolkata event.
