Two Arrested in J&K’s Shopian Under UAPA Incriminating Posters Seized
Police register FIR after recovering suspected propaganda material during night operation in Heerpora
Shopian, Dec 20: Police in Shopian district, Jammu & Kashmir, arrested two individuals during a night operation in the Heerpora area after recovering incriminating posters, officials said on Saturday.
The arrested have been identified as Ahsan Ahmad Wagay, son of Mohammad Shafi Wagay from Yarikha, and Rahil Ahmad Bhat, son of Mohammad Amin Bhat from Lasio Bonpora, both in Kulgam district.
Following the recovery, FIR No. 73/2025 was registered at Police Station Heerpora under Section 13 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA). The investigation is ongoing to determine the source and purpose of the seized material.
Police said the operation was part of continuous efforts to prevent unlawful activities and maintain peace in the region.
