Kannan Pattambi, Malayalam Film Production Controller and Major Ravi’s Brother, Passes Away

Malayalam, Dec 05 : The Malayalam film industry was struck by sad news on Sunday night with the passing of Kannan Pattambi, 62, a respected production controller and actor. He had been undergoing treatment for a kidney-related illness.

Kannan Pattambi passed away at around 11:40 pm at a private hospital in Kozhikode, confirmed by his elder brother, filmmaker Major Ravi.

Funeral to be held in Pattambi

The funeral is scheduled for Monday at 4 pm at his residence in Njanganthiri, Pattambi. Relatives, well-wishers, and members of the film fraternity are expected to attend and pay their final respects.

Major Ravi shares emotional tribute

Major Ravi shared the news via a Facebook post in Malayalam, along with a photograph of his younger brother, detailing the time of death and funeral arrangements.

Kannan shared a close professional bond with Major Ravi, a former Indian Army officer turned filmmaker, and was actively involved in the production of films directed or produced by him. Notable among these was Mission 90 Days, based on Major Ravi’s experiences investigating the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case.

A long journey in Malayalam cinema

Kannan Pattambi was a familiar and respected figure behind the scenes in Malayalam cinema, serving for many years as a production controller, a role crucial for managing film shoots, schedules, and budgets.

In addition to his behind-the-camera contributions, he also acted in several films, mostly in supporting roles. He worked on numerous projects starring Mohanlal, including Pulimurugan, which became the first Malayalam film to cross Rs 100 crore at the box office.
