Priyanka Chopra Unveils Fierce Pirate Avatar in ‘The Bluff’; First Look Hints at Brutal Showdown
Actor plays feared pirate queen ‘Bloody Mary’ in Russo Brothers backed action drama, set to stream on Prime Video from February 25
Mumbai, Dec 08 : Priyanka Chopra is shedding her glamorous screen image for a raw, brutal transformation in ‘The Bluff’, an upcoming R-rated action adventure backed by the Russo Brothers. The first look from the film presents the actor in a fierce pirate avatar, signalling a dark, violent turn unlike anything she has done before.
In the newly released stills, Chopra appears bloodied and battle-ready—gun in hand, rage in her eyes, and a hardened intensity that sets the tone for the film. Gone are the soft-focus visuals and polished elegance; ‘The Bluff’ introduces a pirate story that is gritty, unforgiving, and steeped in vengeance.
A dark turn that shocks fans
The first look dropped to strong reactions online, with Chopra seen charging at Karl Urban with wild fury in one image. In others, she peers through a monocular like a hunter tracking prey, or stands blood-soaked near a window, gripping a firearm with steely resolve.
The visuals establish a dark, raw atmosphere, positioning Chopra in what appears to be her most physically intense role yet.
Who is Bloody Mary?
In the film, Chopra plays Ercell ‘Bloody Mary’ Bodden, a former pirate queen with a fearsome reputation. Set in the late 1800s in the Caribbean, the story follows a woman who has escaped her violent past to build a quiet life on a remote island.
But her attempt at peace is short-lived.
Karl Urban’s vengeful return
Karl Urban stars as Captain Connor, Bloody Mary’s former lover and the current leader of her old pirate crew. His arrival on the island reignites old wounds and unleashes fresh violence.
What follows is a tense, explosive confrontation that forces Bloody Mary to choose between remaining hidden or reclaiming the ruthless identity she once buried.
A bloody reunion with high stakes
As Connor and his crew threaten her new life, Bloody Mary is pushed back into a world of bloodshed and survival. The film promises intense action, emotional conflict, and a central character who refuses to be hunted or silenced.
Backed by the Russo Brothers
‘The Bluff’ is produced by Anthony and Joe Russo under their AGBO Studios banner, along with Angela Russo-Otstot. The project marks another collaboration between Chopra and the Russo Brothers following their work on ‘Citadel’.
The cast also includes Temuera Morrison as Quartermaster Lee, a key ally to Captain Connor.
Release details
‘The Bluff’ will stream on Prime Video from February 25. With its blood-soaked visuals, high-stakes action, and Priyanka Chopra in a commanding, ferocious role, the film is poised to deliver a bold reimagining of the pirate genre.
