Jaipur, Jan 15: In a historic first, the 78th Army Day Parade was conducted along a public urban route on Mahal Road in Jaipur, marking a significant shift from the traditional practice of holding such parades within military cantonments. The move allowed unrestricted public viewing, aiming to deepen patriotic sentiment and foster a closer connection between citizens and the armed forces.

The celebrations were attended by top military and government officials, including Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan, and Chief of Army Staff General Upendra Dwivedi. Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma and Governor Haribhau Bagde were also present.

The parade featured ceremonial displays, showcasing the discipline and operational readiness of the Indian Army, while enabling the public to engage directly with the nation’s military heritage. Officials said that hosting the event in an urban public setting was intended to bring the armed forces closer to the people and inspire civic pride.
