Rima Das’ Trilingual Film Not a Hero Set to Premiere at Berlin International Film Festival

National Award-winning filmmaker returns with a heartwarming story of courage and childhood adventures in Assamese, Hindi, and English.

India, Jan 15 : Acclaimed filmmaker Rima Das, celebrated for her National Award-winning Village Rockstars, is set to make her third appearance at the Berlin International Film Festival with her latest feature, Not a Hero. The film will have its world premiere on February 14, 2026, in the Generation Kplus Competition at the 76th edition of the prestigious festival.

This year’s Generation section is vibrant, showcasing 18 feature films and 23 shorts from 31 countries, including 30 world premieres and 10 feature debuts.

From Village Rockstars to Not a Hero
Das has a long-standing connection with Berlin, having first charmed audiences in 2019 with Village Rockstars and returning in 2025 with Village Rockstars 2. Not a Hero marks her third selection, further solidifying her international recognition.

About the Film
Set against the backdrop of both city and countryside, Not a Hero follows a young boy exiled from urban comforts to his ancestral village. Here, he encounters his stern aunt, befriends a horse, and joins local children on untamed adventures. Through these experiences, he discovers courage not defined by power, but by kindness, awareness, and adaptability.

The film, shot in Assamese, Hindi, and English, stars Bhuman Bhargav Das (Tora’s Husband) alongside Sukanya Boruah. Produced under Das’s Flying River Films in collaboration with Akanga Film Asia, Not a Hero embodies her signature intimate and observational storytelling, offering reflections that span generations.
