Leh, Jan 19: An earthquake measuring 5.7 on the Richter scale struck Leh district in Ladakh on Monday, triggering brief tremors across the region.

According to the National Center for Seismology (NCS), the quake occurred at 11:51 am (IST) and had a focal depth of 171 kilometres, indicating a deep-seated seismic event.

Authorities said there were no immediate reports of casualties or damage to property. Officials are continuing to monitor the situation, while residents have been advised to remain alert and follow standard safety precautions.
