US, Jan 02 : Newly elected New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani came under scrutiny after his mother’s name appeared in the latest batch of Epstein Files released by the US Department of Justice. Supporters gathered outside his official residence, Gracie Mansion, to voice anger and demand accountability.
Videos circulating on social media showed protesters shouting “shame” and accusing the mayor of misleading voters. “We advocated for you. We voted for you…We know about your mom,” one protester said.
The emails, part of over three million pages released under the Epstein Files Transparency Act, revealed filmmaker Mira Nair’s attendance at a 2009 social event hosted by convicted trafficker Ghislaine Maxwell. The record also mentioned other high-profile figures, including Bill Clinton, Jeff Bezos, Elon Musk, Bill Gates, Ivanka Trump, and Sarah Ferguson. One email noted:
“Just left Ghislaine’s townhouse… after party for film. Bill Clinton and Jeff Bezos were there… Jean Pigozzi, director Mira Nair… Film received tepid reaction, although women like it much more.”
Zohran Mamdani, who assumed office on January 1 after defeating former Governor Andrew Cuomo and Republican Curtis Sliwa, has not publicly commented on the matter. Meanwhile, the Department of Justice has made thousands of images and videos from the Epstein records publicly accessible, highlighting the ongoing public demand for transparency regarding individuals connected to the late financier.
