Delhi Police Nab Two in Pre-Republic Day Pro-Khalistan Slogan Case

Special Cell says conspiracy was planned from Canada; accused allegedly promised ₹2 lakh to execute the act ahead of Republic Day.

New Delhi, Feb 05 : The Delhi Police Special Cell has arrested two individuals for allegedly writing pro-Khalistan slogans at multiple locations in the national capital ahead of Republic Day. The accused have been identified as Baljinder, an ambulance driver, and his associate Rohit alias Kirat.

According to officials, the conspiracy was orchestrated from Canada, where a close associate of Sikhs for Justice (SFJ) founder Gurpatwant Singh Pannun is believed to have coordinated the plan. Investigators claim the accused were offered ₹2 lakh to carry out the activity, while the suspected mastermind reportedly in direct contact with Pannun had travelled to Canada shortly before January 26.

Police said an FIR had already been registered on January 23 against Pannun for allegedly issuing threats aimed at disturbing public order in Delhi before the Republic Day celebrations. The case invokes multiple provisions of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita, including charges related to promoting enmity, criminal conspiracy, and acts endangering the country’s unity and sovereignty.

Authorities began probing the matter after Pannun allegedly released a social media video claiming that “sleeper cells” had placed pro-Khalistan posters in the Rohini and Dabri areas. However, a subsequent verification by the Special Cell found no such posters at the locations mentioned.

Further investigation is underway to identify additional links and determine the wider network behind the alleged plot, police added.
