NC President Farooq Abdullah Attends Funeral Prayers of Former Minister

NC president remembers late leader’s dedication to public service and forest conservation

SRINAGAR, Feb 14: Farooq Abdullah on Saturday attended the funeral prayers of senior party colleague and former minister Peerzada Ghulam Ahmad Shah in Kulgam district, joining family members, party leaders and supporters in bidding him a final farewell.

Shah passed away in Jammu on Friday. Abdullah, accompanied by National Conference MLAs and office-bearers, offered prayers and conveyed condolences to the bereaved family.

Recalling the late leader’s commitment to public welfare, Abdullah said Shah remained devoted to serving people even during difficult political phases. He noted that Shah continued grassroots outreach when his father was imprisoned and later worked earnestly as a minister to safeguard forest resources.

“He loved this land and worked to ease the hardships faced by the people. May the Almighty grant him eternal peace,” Abdullah said while paying homage.

Party leaders described Shah as a dedicated public representative whose contributions to governance and environmental protection would be remembered.
