Board of Peace Gaza Reconstruction Plan: Trump to Lead $5 Billion Push
US, Feb 19 : US President Donald Trump is set to chair the first ever meeting of the Board of Peace in Washington, where participating nations are expected to formalise more than $5 billion in pledges aimed at rebuilding Gaza and strengthening post-war security arrangements.
Global participation at inaugural session
The high-level gathering will include delegations from over 40 countries. Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is scheduled to attend, alongside representatives from India, Israel, Japan, Jordan, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Qatar.
The administration has described the Board as a structured international platform to coordinate humanitarian assistance, reconstruction financing and long-term stabilisation efforts in Gaza.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said member states have committed billions toward rebuilding critical infrastructure and have pledged personnel for an International Stabilisation Force and local policing support to maintain order.
Oversight and governance structure
According to officials, the Board of Peace Gaza reconstruction plan will function under a voting mechanism involving all member states, with a technocratic layer tasked with operational decision-making. Trump will serve as chair of the body.
Key speakers expected at the session include Secretary of State Marco Rubio, senior adviser Jared Kushner, former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair, US Ambassador to the UN Mike Waltz, Special Envoy Steve Witkoff, and diplomat Nickolay Mladenov.
Security conditions for rebuilding
Speaking in New York, Waltz emphasised that reconstruction must be preceded by the dismantling of militant infrastructure in Gaza. He stated that Hamas must disarm and that the territory must be demilitarised to ensure lasting stability.
At the United Nations, Under Secretary General Rosemary DiCarlo described the Washington meeting as a significant step toward stabilisation, calling for tangible recovery efforts and renewed momentum toward a negotiated two-state framework.
Strategic objective
The Board of Peace Gaza reconstruction plan is being framed by the White House as a long-term international mechanism designed to consolidate ceasefire gains, deliver sustained humanitarian relief and establish durable peace arrangements in the region.
