India, Israel Begin Free Trade Talks in Delhi Ahead of PM Modi’s Visit

Bilateral Negotiations Aim to Expand Trade and Strengthen Economic Cooperation

India, Feb 25 : India and Israel launched the first round of Free Trade Agreement (FTA) negotiations on Tuesday in Delhi, a key step toward strengthening economic ties ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s upcoming visit to Israel.

Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal welcomed the Israeli delegation and described the discussions as a milestone for enhancing bilateral trade. In a post on X, he emphasized that the talks are aimed at creating new opportunities for businesses and citizens in both nations.

Experts from both countries are engaging in detailed sessions covering trade in goods and services, rules of origin, sanitary and phytosanitary measures, technical barriers, customs procedures, trade facilitation, and intellectual property rights. Officials highlighted that these negotiations are crucial for fostering deeper economic collaboration and expanding bilateral trade.
