Modi Urges Industry to Invest, Innovate and Leverage Budget Announcements for Growth

New Delhi, Feb 27 : Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday urged industry leaders to step up investment and innovation, calling on financial institutions to provide practical solutions that strengthen market confidence and accelerate growth.

Speaking at a post Budget webinar on “Technology, Reforms and Finance for Viksit Bharat”, the Prime Minister said collaboration between government, industry and knowledge partners ensures that reforms deliver tangible outcomes and policy announcements translate into measurable progress.

Emphasising infrastructure as a cornerstone of economic strategy, Modi noted that public capital expenditure has risen sharply over the past decade from ₹2 lakh crore 11 years ago to more than ₹12 lakh crore in the Union Budget 2026-27. He described the increase as a strong signal for the private sector to participate with renewed energy.

The Prime Minister encouraged India Inc to leverage provisions announced in the latest Budget and expand investments in emerging sectors. He also called upon financial institutions to enhance support systems and boost investor confidence.

Highlighting India’s economic resilience, Modi said sustained progress over the last decade has been driven by conviction-based reforms and continuous efforts to simplify procedures and improve the ease of doing business.

Proposing a structured framework for cooperation, he suggested creating a “Reform Partnership Charter” to institutionalise collaboration among government bodies, industry, academia and financial institutions. Such a charter, he said, would serve as a key instrument in achieving the long-term objective of building a developed India by 2047.

He further underlined that the national Budget should be viewed as a long-term policy blueprint rather than a short-term financial statement, and its impact assessed on substantive developmental outcomes.
