Amritpal Singh’s Father Demands CBI Probe to Ensure Justice
Amritsar: Bapu Tarsem Singh, father of jailed MP Amritpal Singh, alleged that the controversial encounter killing of 19 year old Ranjit Singh in Gurdaspur revealed the “anti-Sikh face” of the Aam Aadmi Party government in Punjab. He urged authorities to hand over the case to the CBI to uncover the truth.
According to a statement issued by Shamsher Singh Padhri, press secretary of Akali Dal Waris Punjab De, Bapu Tarsem Singh criticized the state government for declaring Ranjit Singh involved in the incident prematurely, instead of conducting a thorough and impartial investigation. He called the encounter a violation of human rights and a blot on the state administration.
Meanwhile, Advocate Jagdeep Singh Randhawa of the Khalra Mission Organisation (KMO) described the Gurdaspur encounter as “fake” and said KMO, along with the Manukhi Adhikar Insaaf Sangarsh Committee (MAISC), had appealed to the Chief Justice of the Punjab and Haryana High Court to take suo motu notice and order an independent inquiry into all alleged fake encounters since the formation of the Bhagwant Mann government.
