Malaika Arora’s Mother Stranded In Dubai Amid Conflict, Witnesses Missile Interceptions

Joyce Arora says she witnessed missiles being intercepted in the sky as travel disruptions left several Indian celebrities stuck in the UAE.

Dubai: Joyce Arora, mother of Bollywood actor Malaika Arora, is currently stranded in Dubai after flight operations were disrupted due to the ongoing tensions between the United States and Iran. She had travelled to the UAE city for a family celebration but found herself caught in the aftermath of the sudden suspension of flights.

Speaking about the situation, Joyce said she witnessed dramatic scenes in the sky as defence systems intercepted missiles during the heightened alert in the region. Despite the tense moments, she said she felt secure due to the strong safety measures in place.

“I actually saw missiles being intercepted in the sky. It was frightening to watch, but the authorities here are doing an excellent job and I feel safe,” she said in an interview with The Times of India. She added that her daughters, who are in Mumbai, remain in constant contact with her and check on her several times a day.

Joyce explained that her trip to Dubai was planned to celebrate her elder sister’s birthday. During the visit, the family also marked her own birthday. However, her return journey was disrupted when airlines cancelled flights due to the regional conflict. She was scheduled to fly back to Mumbai on March 3 before the sudden suspension of services.

The travel disruption affected several other Indian celebrities as well. Actor Sonal Chauhan and actor Esha Gupta were also stranded in the UAE during the escalation of tensions that led to airspace restrictions.

Sonal Chauhan has since returned to India and shared an update on social media expressing gratitude for the support she received. She also praised the authorities in Dubai for maintaining safety and calm during the difficult period.

Meanwhile, the United Arab Emirates has started restoring a limited number of flights, raising hopes for travellers who remain stranded and are waiting for an opportunity to return to their home countries.
