Jammu: Security forces arrested six alleged drug peddlers in separate operations across Udhampur and Samba districts of Jammu and Kashmir, officials said on Tuesday.
According to a police spokesperson, three of the accused Mahandeep Singh, Suresh Kumar and Vikram Kumar were apprehended during routine checking at different locations in Udhampur district, including Manwal Chowk in Majalta, Circular Road near Devika and Gole Mela.
During the searches, officers recovered varying quantities of heroin from their possession. Mahandeep Singh was found carrying 10.27 grams, while 1.54 grams and 5.74 grams were seized from Suresh Kumar and Vikram Kumar respectively.
The arrests are part of an intensified campaign against narcotics trafficking in the region, with law enforcement agencies increasing surveillance and conducting frequent checks at key points.
Further investigation is underway to trace supply networks and identify other individuals involved in the illegal trade.
