Al-Falah Group Chairman Remanded to Judicial Custody in Second PMLA Case by Delhi Court

ED alleges forged documents used in ₹45 crore land deal; probe links case to wider financial irregularities

NEW DELHI, Apr 4: A Delhi court on Saturday remanded Al-Falah Group chairman Jawad Ahmad Siddiqui to 14 days of judicial custody in a money laundering case involving the alleged  acquisition of land valued at ₹45 crore in the national capital.

Siddiqui was presented before Additional Sessions Judge Sheetal Chaudhary Pradhan after completing a ten day Enforcement Directorate (ED) custody granted on March 25. The court has now ordered his judicial custody until April 17.

The ED arrested Siddiqui on March 24 in connection with his second case under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). According to the agency, the investigation revealed that fabricated documents were created and used to fraudulently secure ownership of a 1.14-acre land parcel located in Madanpur Khadar. While the actual value of the land is estimated at ₹45 crore, official documents reportedly showed a transaction amount of just ₹75 lakh.

Officials further alleged that Siddiqui, who serves as director and majority shareholder of the Tarbia Education Foundation, played a key role in orchestrating the alleged forgery along with associates.

This is not the first legal trouble for Siddiqui. In November 2025, he was arrested in another PMLA case tied to alleged financial misconduct involving educational institutions run by the Al-Falah Charitable Trust. The ED claimed that funds collected from students, amounting to over ₹415 crore between 2018 and 2025, were misused for personal purposes.

Earlier this year, on February 5, the Delhi Police Crime Branch also took Siddiqui into custody over forgery allegations linked to irregularities in a private university operated by the group. The case arose from FIRs accusing the institution of falsely claiming recognition from regulatory bodies such as NAAC and UGC to attract students.

Additionally, the university has been under scrutiny in connection with a “white-collar terror” investigation related to the November 10 Red Fort blast, which resulted in 15 fatalities.
