Kunwarani Dr. Ritu Singh leads Nasha Mukt J&K initiative at DPS Jammu under aegis of 100-Day Abhiyan

Jammu: Under the able guidance and visionary leadership of Kunwarani Dr. Ritu Singh Ji, Hon’ble Founder and Pro Vice Chairperson of DPS Jammu, Nagbani, and Katra, Delhi Public School, Jammu, organised a Special Assembly on “Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Pledge Campaign” here today, aligned with the flagship Nasha Mukt Abhiyan led by the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of J&K. The programme was graced by Shri Ramesh Kumar (IAS), Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, as the Chief Guest.

The Chief Guest was accorded a warm and ceremonial welcome with a reception by the school band and a traditional tilak. The programme commenced with the auspicious lighting of the ceremonial lamp, invoking divine blessings for the noble cause.

Delivering an impactful address, Shri Ramesh Kumar (IAS) administered the Nasha Mukt Bharat Pledge to the students and staff. He sensitised the gathering about the causes and far-reaching consequences of substance abuse, emphasising that addiction adversely affects health, families, careers, and society at large. He highlighted practical strategies to combat stress and prevent substance abuse, including maintaining discipline, engaging in sports and creative pursuits, seeking guidance from mentors and family, and building emotional resilience. Urging students to remain vigilant and responsible, he encouraged them to actively spread awareness and make informed life choices.

The Divisional Commissioner also appreciated the commendable efforts of the DPS fraternity, lauding the students for their awareness, confidence, and commitment, and encouraging them to continue serving as agents of positive change.

In her welcome address, Kunwarani Dr. Ritu Singh Ji emphasised that the vision of a Nasha Mukt J&K is a shared societal responsibility. Reflecting the school’s guiding philosophy of “Service Before Self,” she highlighted the importance of nurturing responsible, aware, and compassionate citizens. She urged students to uphold strong values, make wise choices, and actively contribute towards building a healthier, drug-free society. She also appreciated the collective efforts of students and staff in achieving milestones of excellence.

In a remarkable show of collective commitment, around 5,000 students, their parents, and members of the teaching and administrative staff of DPS Jammu signed pledges in support of the Nasha Mukt campaign, significantly amplifying its outreach across the region.

A key highlight of the programme was the unveiling of the “Wall of Strength”, symbolising a united stand against substance abuse, featuring pledges signed by students, parents, and staff. The Chief Guest also inaugurated a Painting Exhibition on “Say No to Drugs,” showcasing students’ creativity, awareness, and sensitivity towards this pressing social issue.

The programme also featured a Badge of Responsibility Ceremony, wherein eight students were designated as Brand Ambassadors of the Nasha Mukt Abhiyan: Mahira Tandon (Class II F), Dhriti Langeh (Class VI F), Abhilasha Gupta (Class VIII B), Myra Gupta (Class VIII I), Jenna Nuryn (Class XI C), Nadia (Class XI H), Sparsh Bakshi (Class XII B), and Kashvi Arora (Class XII H). Adorned with badges and sashes, these young ambassadors interacted with the Chief Guest and shared insightful ideas on how youth can play a pivotal role in building a drug-free society. They emphasised peer awareness, responsible choices, and collective action.

Earlier, the programme commenced with a soulful prayer led by Aleena Arora of Class VII, followed by a thought-provoking Hindi poem recitation by Abhilasha of Class VIII, highlighting the ill effects of drugs on health, family, relationships, and the nation. A melodious choir presentation further enriched the event, spreading a message of hope, awareness, and positivity.

The event concluded with a heartfelt Vote of Thanks by the Principal DPS Jammu, Ms. Ruchi Chabra, followed by an instrumental rendition of Vande Mataram and the National Anthem.

Mehra, Coordinator/ Supervisor Ms Anu Bali, Coordinator, Pre-Primary Ms Preeti Abrol, Coordinator Primary, Ms Prerna, Coordinator Middle, Ms Anuradha Malhotra, Coordinators Senior- Ms Arti Sharma and Ms Sheetal Abrol.

On behalf of the Management and Trustees, including Hon’ble President-RCT, Sh. M.K. Ajatshatru Singh Ji, and Hon’ble Director, Sh. S.S. Sodhi Ji, Kunwarani Dr. Ritu Singh Ji reaffirmed her unwavering commitment to nurturing responsible citizens and contributing meaningfully towards a Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir.
