Green Practices’ event on Earth Day organized at University of Jammu

Jammu, 22-04-2026: The Business School, University of Jammu, celebrated Earth Day under the theme “Environmental Consciousness to Protect Mother Earth” to raise awareness about environmental conservation and sustainable practices. The event was conducted under the patronage and guidance of the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Prof. Umesh Rai. The program aimed to sensitize students, scholars, faculty members and other stakeholders about the pressing environmental challenges and the need for collective action to protect the planet.

The event commenced with an insightful address by Ms. Rubal Mahajan, an advocate and environmentalist who has started an initiative “ANTS2SS (As Now is the Time to Steer to Sustainable Spirituality)”. Ms. Rubal engaged the audience with real-life cases related to sustainability of earth as a resource. She stressed upon the importance of acting promptly as the continuous human intervention has significantly harmed the earth. She highlighted the importance of sustainable living, climate change and individual responsibility in preserving natural resources. Ms. Rubal further emphasized the role of youth in building an environmentally conscious society.

Earlier, Prof. Amisha Gupta, Director, The Business School, University of Jammu formally welcomed the resource person and the audience. In her address, she emphasised the importance of giving back to the mother nature and highlighted that everyone should put in consistent efforts on daily basis to help protect the environment. Further, emphasizing that small actions can create a multiplier effect and inspire the chain of positive thoughts and behaviour.

The session provided a valuable platform for meaningful dialogue where scholars, students and faculty gained deeper insights into green practices and environmental concerns. A thought-provoking interactive session was conducted where participants actively engaged with the resource person and discussed practical approaches to green practices, environmental sustainability, waste management, conservation practices etc. The contemporary themes such as Agenda 2030, Cloud Seeding, Genetically Modified Organisms (GMO) etc. were thoroughly brainstormed.

The interactive session was followed by an outdoor activity of making seed balls which can be used to plant trees in the future. The activity attracted enthusiastic participation from students, scholars, faculty members and non-teaching staff of TBS.

The event was coordinated by Dr. Aubid Hussain Parrey, Assistant Professor, The Business School, who also presented the formal vote of thanks. He expressed gratitude to the resource person, faculty members, scholars, students and non-teaching staff of TBS for their active participation and support in making the event a grand success.

The Earth Day celebration concluded on a positive note, reinforcing the message of environmental responsibility and inspiring participants to contribute towards a greener and more sustainable future.
