Anantnag Police Crack Down on Drug Network, Demolish Illegal Structures in Larnoo

Joint operation with revenue and forest authorities targets alleged narcotics-linked encroachments in south Kashmir

ANANTNAG, May 14: In a major action against the narcotics network in south Kashmir, police in Anantnag on Wednesday demolished illegal structures allegedly linked to suspected drug peddlers during a coordinated anti-encroachment drive in the Larnoo area.The operation was conducted at Gawran Larnoo in collaboration with officials from the Revenue Department and Forest Department as part of an intensified campaign against drug trafficking and related criminal activities in the district.During the drive, authorities removed two illegally constructed shop structures that were allegedly built on encroached forest land. Officials identified the structures as belonging to Asif Ali Pala, son of Ali Mohammad Pala, and Nisar Ahmad Kasana, son of Bashir Ahmad Kasana, both residents of Mathindoo area in Larnoo.According to officials, the demolition action was initiated after authorities found that the structures had been raised unlawfully on forest land. Police said the crackdown forms part of a broader strategy aimed at dismantling the infrastructure and financial networks associated with narcotics operations in the region.Authorities stated that law enforcement agencies are increasingly focusing not only on individuals involved in drug trafficking but also on properties and assets allegedly created through illegal proceeds linked to narcotics trade.Police officials reiterated their commitment to curbing drug-related activities and maintaining strict surveillance against those involved in the supply or support of narcotics operations.The district police administration said strong legal measures would continue against drug peddlers and anyone found assisting unlawful activities connected to the narcotics ecosystem.The latest operation is part of an ongoing anti-drug campaign launched across several areas of Kashmir to tackle rising concerns over substance abuse and illegal trafficking networks.
