India’s Smartphone Market Faces Slowdown in 2026

IDC report highlights declining shipments amid weak consumer demand and rising component costs.

India, May 25 : India’s smartphone market witnessed a decline in the first quarter of 2026 due to lower consumer demand and rising hardware costs.

According to industry estimates, smartphone shipments dropped by over four percent compared to the previous year.

Analysts attributed the slowdown to inflationary pressures and shortages of memory components linked to growing AI demand worldwide. Premium devices continued performing relatively better than entry level smartphones.

Despite the decline, companies remain optimistic about the festive season and upcoming AI-enabled smartphone launches.
