Centre Launches Nationwide Campaign Against Lifestyle Diseases
Special focus placed on diabetes, hypertension and obesity awareness
NEW DELHI, May 28: The Union Health Ministry has launched a nationwide awareness campaign aimed at tackling the growing burden of lifestyle related diseases such as diabetes, hypertension and obesity.
Health officials said the initiative would include free screening camps, awareness drives in schools and workplaces, and expanded digital health consultations.
The campaign comes amid rising concern over increasing cases of cardiovascular disorders and metabolic illnesses among younger age groups.
Doctors have stressed the importance of balanced diets, regular physical activity and early diagnosis to prevent long-term health complications.
Authorities also plan to strengthen preventive healthcare services under the Ayushman Bharat programme.
Medical experts welcomed the initiative and said public awareness remains critical in reducing pressure on hospitals and healthcare systems.
