BCCI Unveils Packed Domestic Calendar for 2026–27 Season
Revised schedule aims to strengthen player development and provide greater match exposure across formats
New Delhi, Aug. 1: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced its domestic cricket calendar for the 2026–27 season, introducing a comprehensive schedule designed to provide players with increased competitive opportunities across red ball, one day, and T20 formats.
The calendar includes the Ranji Trophy, Vijay Hazare Trophy, Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, Duleep Trophy, and Irani Cup, with fixtures arranged to ensure better workload management and smoother transitions between tournaments.
The board said the revised schedule aims to strengthen the domestic structure while allowing state associations sufficient time to prepare teams and improve infrastructure. It also seeks to give emerging cricketers regular match practice before national selection camps.
Selectors believe the expanded domestic programme will help identify promising talent and create a stronger pipeline for the Indian national team. Coaches have welcomed the move, saying a well balanced calendar is essential for player development and long-term success.
The domestic season is expected to begin later this year, with participating teams preparing for an intense schedule across multiple venues.
