Indian Envoy, Georgia Governor Hold Talks to Boost Trade and Investment
Meetings with state leaders, industry executives and education stakeholders highlight growing momentum in India–US collaboration across trade, innovation and research.
India, Aug 05 : India’s Ambassador to the United States, Vinay Mohan Kwatra, has reinforced bilateral engagement with the US state of Georgia through a series of high level meetings aimed at expanding cooperation in commerce, education and innovation. During his visit to Atlanta, the envoy met Georgia Governor Brian Kemp, corporate leaders, academic representatives and members of the Indian diaspora to strengthen ties across multiple sectors.
Sharing details of the meeting on social media, Ambassador Kwatra said his discussions with Governor Kemp focused on enhancing business collaboration, improving connectivity and identifying new opportunities for investment. He also congratulated the governor on his successful tenure, expressing confidence that Georgia would continue playing an important role in advancing relations between India and the United States.
The talks underscored the growing commercial links between India and the southeastern US state, with both sides exploring avenues to encourage greater business engagement and attract fresh investments. The meeting reflected the shared commitment to expanding economic cooperation and creating long-term partnerships in emerging industries.
As part of his Atlanta visit, the ambassador also met Carol Tomé, Chief Executive Officer of United Parcel Service (UPS), to discuss logistics, supply chain resilience and future investment opportunities. Their interaction highlighted the increasing importance of efficient logistics networks in supporting trade and manufacturing growth between the two countries.
Kwatra noted that India continues to present significant opportunities for global companies through its expanding manufacturing base, innovation ecosystem and business friendly environment. He said stronger logistics connectivity and resilient supply chains would further accelerate commercial cooperation.
Education and research also featured prominently during the visit. At the India–US Education Roundtable hosted by the Consulate General of India in Atlanta, the ambassador engaged with academic leaders on expanding research partnerships, promoting student and faculty exchanges, advancing technology collaboration and exploring the establishment of satellite campuses in India.
He described education as one of the strongest foundations of the strategic partnership between the two democracies, emphasising that greater academic cooperation would help prepare future generations for innovation-driven growth.
The visit concluded with an interaction with members of the Indian-American community in Atlanta. Appreciating their achievements across diverse sectors, Kwatra said the diaspora continues to make valuable contributions to both countries while serving as a vital bridge in strengthening bilateral relations.
He praised the community’s role in fostering closer people to people ties and supporting the broader strategic partnership, noting that Indian-Americans across the southeastern United States have emerged as key contributors to business, technology, education and public life.
The Atlanta outreach reflects India’s continued efforts to deepen engagement with individual US states, expand commercial opportunities and build stronger institutional partnerships that support the long-term growth of India–US relations.
