Amit Shah Urges BJP Workers to Strengthen Party Organisation

The Union Home Minister said the BJP is emerging as a strong political force and asked party workers to expand and strengthen its organisational presence in the Union Territory.

PUDUCHERRY, Aug 9: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday called upon BJP workers in Puducherry to intensify efforts to strengthen the party organisation and expand its political presence in the Union Territory.

Addressing party workers during his visit, Shah said the BJP was steadily emerging as a significant political force and urged cadres to work with greater commitment to consolidate the organisation.

According to a spokesperson of the Puducherry BJP, Shah criticised the Opposition for allegedly giving undue importance to what he described as “non-issues”. He also said the lack of a clear approach among opposition parties exposed their weaknesses.

The BJP is a coalition partner in the AINRC led government in Puducherry. Shah’s remarks came as the party seeks to reinforce its organisational network and deepen its outreach among voters in the Union Territory.

Shah, who arrived in Puducherry on August 8, attended a ceremony at the Police Ground on Sunday, where he presented the President’s Colour to the Union Territory Police. The honour recognises the force’s commitment, discipline and professional excellence.

Puducherry BJP president V P Ramalingam welcomed the Home Minister at the event. BJP legislators, along with representatives of various party wings, were also present.

Earlier, Shah launched the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign in Puducherry, with a large number of young people taking part in the inauguration programme.

A BJP source said more than 20,000 national flags would be distributed among households across the Union Territory. The initiative is aimed at encouraging residents to display the Tricolour at their homes as part of celebrations marking India’s 80th Independence Day on August 15.

The party said the campaign would also provide an opportunity to increase public participation in the Independence Day celebrations while promoting a sense of national pride.

Shah’s visit combined organisational engagement with participation in official and patriotic programmes, as the Puducherry BJP looks to strengthen its grassroots network and broaden its public outreach.
