World Water Day celebrated at kishtwar,Live telecast of PM’s address conducted

22-03-2021: To celebrate World Water Day 2021, which is based on the theme of “Valuing Water” District Administration Kishtwar under the overall supervision of Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar Ashok Sharma today telecasted the live address of Prime Minister of India Sh. Narendra Modi in a function organized here at the Conference Hall DC Office Complex Kishtwar.

District Development Council Chairperson Kishtwar  Pooja Thakur, District Development Council Vice-Chairperson Saima Parveen Lone, BDC Chairpersons, DDC members,  besides other officers from the concerned departments remained present on the occasion.

During the programme various speakers also gave awareness regarding the importance of the conservation, preservation, and management of water and stressed the principle of catch the rain-where it fall, when it falls.

The demonstration on the water testing by the PHE department was also conducted during the programme.

While speaking on the occasion, DC Kishtwar asked the PRI members to aware the masses about the importance of preservation, conservation, and management of water at the grass-root level. He also stressed educating the masses regarding the judicious use of water in gram sabhas itself.

He also stressed efficient rain Water Harvesting in the mountainous areas so as to increase the water table level of the district.

He also directed ACD kishtwar to dedicate the future MGNREGA works in rural areas for effective and efficient water conservation strategies.

DDC chairperson also gave a special thrust for coordinated efforts by various departments and agencies to ensure the accessibility and affordability of clean drinking water to the people besides asked to ensure the implementation of the water management strategies at ground level. She also exhorted upon Xen Jal Shakti to complete various water supply schemes in a time-bound manner.
