DC Doda Vikas Sharma discusses contours of Water Conservation Plan

DODA, MARCH 26: Deputy Commissioner Doda, Vikas Sharma, today chaired today discussed the contours of the water conservation plan for the district here at a meeting of the concerned departments.

The DC held threadbare discussion with regard to the necessary components required to take into account while the formulation of the water conservation plan. He sought to include construction of water harvesting structures, conservation/rejuvenation of traditional water bodies, rooftop water structures, identification of already existing water bodies, plantation drives, constitution of Jal Shakti Kendra, etc.

The DC directed the officers of the concerned line departments to submit the list of works proposed by them for the water conservation activities, besides preparing the inventory of the existing water bodies constructed over the years.

Regarding rain harvesting, the meeting proposed keeping a provision for rooftop rain harvesting structures for all the public buildings in urban areas. The concerned authorities were asked to replicate and implement the same provision in the rural areas in letter and spirit.

The DC informed that the dates for the conduct of Gram Sabhas for the formulation and discussion of the water conservation plan at panchayat level will be notified shortly.

The meeting was attended by the Additional Deputy Commissioner, Chief Planning Officer, Assistant Commissioner Development, Divisional Forest Officer, Ex En PHE, Chief Agriculture Officer, besides other concerned Officers.
