65 Dogri Poets Participate in Mega Dogri Kavi Goshti Organised by Nami Dogri Sanstha

Jammu, September 19: Nami Dogri Sanstha organised a mega Dogri Kavi Goshti at Kala Kendra, Jammu, bringing together nearly 65 literary personalities associated with Dogri language and literature.

During the programme, around 30 poets from different parts of Duggar, including Sudh Mahadev, Dudu, Reasi, Kathua, Samba, Udhampur, Rajouri, Sunderbani, Billawar and R.S. Pura, recited their Dogri poetry and presented different shades of Duggar’s literary and cultural expression.

The poetic meet was presided over by Capt. Lalit Sharma, IFS, a well-known Dogri poet. He was joined on the dais by prominent literary personalities, including Krishan Lal Sharma, recipient of the Sahitya Akademi Award three times; senior poet and writer Satya Paul Gadwalia; noted writer Pangotra Mangal Dass Dogra; and people’s poet Randhir Singh Raipuria.

The poets who recited their poetry included T.R. Magotra, Ajit Jaiswal, Madan Magotra, Sopaan Mohammad, M.S. Kamara, Sathi Salgotra, Neelam Verma, Sanjay Kapil, Neha Sharma, Sunaina Kaila, Mohinder Singh Mandawa, Chanchal Dogra, Abdul Qadir Kundria, Brij Mohan, J.S. Babli, Arun Banathia, Girdhari Lal Rahi, Chaman Lal Sagoch, Ramesh Rahi, P.L. Parihar, Ramesh Singh, Devender Mishra, Rakesh Sharma Tript, Sheikh Fiaz, Narinder Singh Chib, C.S. Katal, Gopal Dass, Randhir Singh Raipuria and Capt. Lalit Sharma.

Sham Pal from Sudh Mahadev and Arjun Singh Manhas presented folk songs in their melodious voices, adding vibrancy and cultural flavour to the gathering. The programme was conducted by Veena Dogra and Yash Pal Yash, General Secretary of Nami Dogri Sanstha.

Speaking on the occasion, Capt. Lalit Sharma shared his observations on each poetic presentation and stressed the need for unity among the literary fraternity. He said collective efforts were essential to strengthen Duggar society and promote Dogri language and literature.

Prof. Anupama Sharma, Patron of Nami Dogri Sanstha, emphasized the need for good and innovative music to popularise the Dogri language among wider audiences, especially the younger generation.

Advocate Dogra Harish Kaila, President of Nami Dogri Sanstha, said all branches of the organisation would be reactivated to give fresh momentum to Dogri literary and cultural activities.

Krishan Lal Sharma said writers are the mirror of society and reflect its real image with positivity, commitment and devotion. Satya Paul Gadwalia said it is the collective responsibility of the literary community to connect the younger generation with Dogri language and Duggar culture.

Pangotra Mangal Dass Dogra said writers must disseminate the region’s great history and proud heritage through their writings so that the new generation feels pride in its roots. Randhir Singh Raipuria said the time has come to create a strong movement for popularising Dogri language and culture.

Raj Rishi Sharma said collective efforts are required to create interest among the younger generation in reading books and literature so that an aware and culturally rooted society can be built.
