OpenAI Set to Preview New AI Cybersecurity Model GPT-6 Cyber
The planned model comes as technology companies expand efforts to use artificial intelligence against increasingly sophisticated cyber threats
Mumbai, Sep 25 : OpenAI is expected to preview a new artificial intelligence model focused on cybersecurity within days, according to a report cited by Reuters, as the company expands its efforts to develop AI tools for detecting and responding to digital threats.
The model, reportedly called GPT-6 Cyber, is expected to focus specifically on cybersecurity applications. A limited group of customers has already been testing the model through OpenAI’s application-based Daybreak Red cybersecurity programme, according to the report.
The planned release comes as businesses and governments face a growing number of cyber threats involving artificial intelligence, including automated attacks, data theft and increasingly sophisticated attempts to exploit vulnerabilities.
OpenAI is also expected to introduce products designed to help customers deploy its AI technology more securely and automate aspects of cybersecurity operations. The developments highlight the growing competition among technology companies to apply advanced AI to the security sector.
The company has previously warned about risks associated with increasingly capable AI systems. The latest cybersecurity initiative reflects the parallel development of AI as both a potential source of new digital risks and a tool for defending computer systems.
GPT-6 Cyber could reportedly be unveiled at OpenAI’s DevDay event in San Francisco on September 29, alongside other planned product announcements. However, the details have not been officially confirmed by OpenAI.
The growing focus on AI-powered cybersecurity comes as organisations seek faster ways to identify vulnerabilities across applications, networks and cloud infrastructure. Technology companies are increasingly developing specialised AI systems designed to analyse threats and assist security teams.
The development also follows broader concerns within the technology industry about maintaining safeguards as AI systems become more capable. OpenAI and other leading AI companies have faced growing pressure to strengthen security measures while continuing to expand their products.
