Jammu, October 02, 2021: JKPCC held an impressive function today to celebrate Gandhi Jayanti in which rich tributes were paid to the great Leader and father of the nation Mahatma Gandhi.
A large number of party workers assembled at Satwari Chowk and garlanded the statue of Mahatma Gandhi here today and later reached PCC HQ Shahidi Chowk and paid floral tributes to Father of Nation Mahatma Gandhi. The function was attended by prominent leaders of PCC, DCC, and frontal Organizations under the chairmanship of Shri Raman Bhalla, Former Minister and Vice President PCC.
Floral tributes were also paid to Former Prime minister Sh. Lal Bhadur Shastri Ji on his birth anniversary today.

Addressing the gathering Shri Raman Bhalla said that the philosophy of Mahatma Gandhi is relevant for all times to come and even more relevant today when an atmosphere of conflicts and violence prevails in different parts of the world. He said that Mahatma Gandhi led the nation to freedom through non-violence against the mighty British rulers. He said that India is known all over the world by the philosophy of Non-Violence and tolerance, since India as a pluralistic society has proved itself to be the most successful democracy in the world.
He said that Gandhi Ji’s philosophy is the only way out to sort out and resolve the conflicts and end violence in the world and the entire world should learn lessons from the philosophy and ideology of Mahatma Gandhi for mutual Co-Existence of people of different faiths and interests.
He said that Mahatma Gandhi was the torchbearer of peace, religious harmony, Non-Violence, and truth in the world and his birthday has been declared as international Non-Violence day by the united nations. He said that there is conflicts of ideology between those who followed the ideology and philosophy of Mahatma Gandhi and those who were opposed to his philosophy and assassinated him. Today is the time that those who truly believe in his ideology must follow and strengthen his ideology for the unity and integrity of the country.
He also remembered the contributions of Lal Bhadur Shastri and paid rich tributes to him for his outstanding role in the freedom struggle and later in different capacities, especially as Prime Minister. He said that Shastri Ji was a symbol of honesty, integrity, and dedication towards the nation
PCC General Secretary In-charge DCC Jammu (Urban) paid floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi and said that the stalwarts of freedom struggle under Mahatma’s Leadership suffered a lot of hardships and made several sacrifices to achieve freedom. It was based on the philosophy of Mahatma Gandhi that the idea of India was translated into action as a free country based on equality and justice to all, irrespective of caste, creed, color, or religion and the country has withstood the challenges all these years as a vibrant democracy both from within and outside. He referred to the contribution of Lal Bhadur Shastri, who gave the slogan of Jai Jawan and Jai Kisan and led the nation to victory in the 1965 war. He said the party stands solidly behind the forces and the Govt. of the day in the present challenge and there is a need to defeat the designs of enemy while referring to the leadership of Shri Shastri and Smt. Indira Gandhi.
Th. Manmohan Singh- General Secretary, who co-ordinated the holding of functions, paid rich tributes to the Mahatma Gandhi and Sh Lal Bhadur Shastri and said that the entire world draws lessons from the life and philosophy of Mahatma Gandhi and Sh Shastri. He said that it is time to further strengthen the philosophy of Mahatma Gandhi in order to create a harmonious atmosphere of living in the country and the world.
Th. Balwan Singh in his address recalled the fundamental principles of Mahatma Gandhi’s philosophy and said that his life is full of lessons for everyone. He said that a great country like ours can only get stronger and united by following the ideology of Mahatma Gandhi. He said Congress is the only party that truly represents the ideology of Mahatma Gandhi and keeps the country united based on those principles by representing the divergent and pluralistic society.
Sh. Rajnish Sharma, Co-treasurer PCC, and Shabir Ahmed Khan former Minister and DCC President Rajouri also paid rich tributes to Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bhadur Shastri and said that it is time to follow and strengthen the philosophy of Mahatma Gandhi in order to defeat the designs of communal and divisive forces and to strengthen the unity and integrity of the state and nation.
