Rajnath Singh Says India Closely Monitoring Regional and Global Security Developments
Defence Minister highlights changes in modern warfare and says the armed forces are undergoing structural, material and strategic transformation under the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat.
JODHPUR, Oct 10: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Saturday said India is closely monitoring security developments in its neighbourhood and across the world, along with their wider strategic implications, amid significant changes in modern warfare and the international security environment.
Addressing Exercise Tarang Shakti 2026 at Jodhpur Air Force Station, Singh emphasised the need for the Indian armed forces to remain prepared for emerging security challenges and adapt to the changing nature of warfare.
“India is continuously monitoring developments in our region and beyond along with their broader strategic implications,” the Defence Minister said after witnessing an aerial display at the air force station.
Singh said the country is pursuing the vision of ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ (self-reliant India) while transforming its military capabilities to meet future operational requirements.
He highlighted that the armed forces are undergoing a fundamental transformation across structural, material and strategic dimensions, reflecting the growing importance of preparedness, modernisation and indigenous defence capabilities.
The changing global security landscape has placed greater emphasis on advanced aircraft, precision systems, emerging technologies and coordination among different branches of the military. These developments have made continuous assessment of potential threats and the adoption of modern operational strategies increasingly important.
Singh’s remarks underscored India’s focus on strengthening its defence preparedness while keeping a close watch on developments that could influence regional stability and national security.
The emphasis on self-reliance also reflects the government’s efforts to expand domestic defence production, encourage indigenous research and reduce dependence on foreign suppliers for critical military equipment.
Exercise Tarang Shakti provides a platform for showcasing air power and highlighting the operational capabilities of the Indian Air Force. Such exercises also contribute to evaluating readiness and understanding the evolving requirements of contemporary aerial operations.
Singh’s address comes at a time when technological advancements and changing geopolitical conditions are reshaping defence planning worldwide. His remarks reinforced the importance of modernisation, strategic awareness and a self-reliant defence ecosystem in safeguarding India’s interests.
