Dr. Shazad Demands Minimum Fixed Salary for Private Teachers

Jammu, 04-09-2022:While Congratulating the teaching fraternity on the eve of Teachers Day, Dr. Shazad  Ahmed Malik, Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Border Area Development Conference(JK-BADC) and former Vice Chancellor of SNU today said that it is unfortunate that today teachers community do not get the ‘respect’ as they deserve.

He also highlighted the issues related to the meager salaries paid to the teachers of private schools in Jammu and Kashmir and urged the government to intervene and ensure that teaching staff of private schools are being paid the minimum fixed monthly salary. The former Vice Chancellor also said the role of private educational institutions in raising the literacy rate of India cannot be ignored as the private institutions played a significant role in increasing overall literacy rate in India.   Raising the issue of teachers of government schools and Colleges, Dr. Shazad said that the bureaucrats in J & K do not treat teachers as they should. He said every day a new diktat ‘Farmaan’ is issued either by the Directorate of School Education or by the Education Department in the Civil Secretariat regarding the transfers of the teachers without considering the fact that the teachers are also humans and they also have families.

He urged Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to direct the bureaucrats to not issue experimental orders on the transfer, attachment, and promotion of teachers but the officers are asked to follow the defined policy on these issues to avoid the humiliation of teachers.
