Kashmir-based political parties demeaned rulers of erstwhile Kingdom of J&K: Kavinder
127th birth anniversary of Maharaja Hari Singh
JAMMU: The Valley-based political parties demeaned the rulers of the erstwhile Kingdom of J&K by concocting stories and narrating things which never took place in the history of J&K.
This was stated by Kavinder Gupta, senior BJP leader and former Deputy Chief Minister while paying tributes to Maharaja Hari Singh on his 127th birth anniversary at Maharaja Hari Singh Park, here today.
Addressing an impressive gathering, the BJP stalwart said that contrary to what some Kashmiri political outfits used to spread to malign the image of great rulers of the J&K Kingdom, the Maharajas have dedicated their entire lives for the expansion of the kingdom and welfare of the masses as these rulers especially the Maharaja Hari Singh were so progressive that there is hardly any example of such a caring Kings among their contemporaries. He said that Kashmiri politics revolved around suppressing the good deeds of the Maharajas that ruled the State before 1947.
Kavinder categorically highlighted that the Maharajas initiated and completed numerous projects meant for the social and economical upliftment of the common masses including schools, colleges, hospitals, canal network, roads and worked without prejudice against any section of the society because these kings were secular and caring. He said that this trait of being fair and impartial helped them to rule a population which was Muslim dominated and scattered across vast region for this being one among the largest kingdoms of the Indian sub-continent.
The senior BJP leader said that the National Conference always tried to paint a wrong picture of Maharaja Hari Singh by twisting the facts of history. There are so many colleges, schools and hospitals which the Maharajas in the past have constructed and the same are serving the people till date without any break or dissolution. He said that vindictive policies of Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah and Pt Jawaharlal Nehru forced Maharaja Hari Singh to move away from his own State and that was the reason that he lived in Mumbai for 14 odd years.
Meanwhile, Kavinder also attended intellectuals’ meet in Trikuta Nagar and Chatha under Sewa Pakhwada and made people aware about the achievements of 8 years of Modi Government at the Centre.
