Govt should give relief to local people by making strong land policy: Sahni

Shiv Sena supports ongoing movement against land eviction order

JAMMU, Feb 2: Due to the stretchy land policy of the government, the sword of snatching everything is hanging on the poor people who have occupied government land. The only fault of the local people, who have been building their houses on a small piece of land for years and living their lives by farming, is that they based their lives on the land given by the government, trusting the previous government. The government should immediately enact a strong land policy, provide relief and rehabilitate them, said Shiv Sena Jammu and Kashmir unit chief Manish Sahni.
Under the leadership of Shiv Sena state chief Manish Sahni, a team of party leaders reached Bathindi today to support the ongoing agitation.
Manish Sahni said that for the last few years, the rights of the local people of Jammu and Kashmir are being continuously violated.
The homes of the poor and common people who are suffering from unemployment, inflation and economic recession are being forced to live on roads and footpaths, he said.
All the external high officials posted in the state have no sympathy with the local people and the Hitlership of the administration is increasing continuously, he said.
The rights of the local people are continuously being violated. After land, jobs, and voting, the houses of the people who have been living for many years have fallen and they are being made homeless, Sahni said.
Sahni added that that the Lieutenant Governor’s assurance of action on big fish and relief to the poor people is also proving to be a ‘Jumle’ game, despite all the assurances, and notices are being issued to the people.
Sahni said that if the Lt. Governor is really serious about providing relief to the poor and common people, he should issue instructions to regularize the colonies by enacting a land law.
Additional District Deputy Commissioner, Jammu Harvinder Singh, reached the protest site wherein protesters handed over a memorandum to him regarding their demands. Harvinder Singh assured all possible help.
President Women’s Wing Meenakshi Chhibber, General Secretary Vikas Bakshi, Chairman Rakesh Gupta, President Workers’ Wing Raj Singh, Geeta Lakhotra, Shashipal, Mangu Ram, Sunny Dimple were also present along with the state chief.
