Police apprehend suspects in Srinagar prostitution racket

03-04-2023 : On Monday, the police in Srinagar apprehended two individuals for operating a prostitution ring in a rented residence. Acting on specific information, the Srinagar Police conducted a raid on a property in the Bagh Mehtab locality, resulting in the arrests of Irshad Ahmad Bhat and Mohd Shafi Hajam, who were allegedly involved in the sex racket along with others. Additionally, four sex workers and two clients, all from Srinagar, were taken into custody for further questioning.

The rented accommodation, owned by Altaf Hussain Afaqi, was used as the base for illicit activities. An FIR has been filed under the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act at the Chanpura police station, and the landlord will also be charged for failing to conduct tenant verification.
