Former Judicial Officer and Ex-DG Planning appointed as J&K PSC Members

Expertise of new J&K PSC members in diverse fields

12-04-2023 : The Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha, recently appointed Tariq Ahmad Khan and Sanjeev Gupta as members of the Jammu & Kashmir Public Service Commission. Tariq Ahmad Khan is a former director general of the Planning Department and Sanjeev Gupta is a retired district and sessions judge.

The General Administration Department issued a notification stating that both Tariq Ahmad Khan and Sanjeev Gupta were appointed to the Jammu & Kashmir Public Service Commission by the LG. Sanjeev Gupta has a distinguished career in the judiciary and has served in various capacities as a district and sessions judge and principal D&S judge. He has recently retired as the Registrar General of J&K High Court.

On the other hand, Tariq Ahmad Khan is a gold medallist from Kashmir University and has done his post-graduation in Commerce and MPhil in Management Accounting. He joined Planning & Statistics Service in 1993 and superannuated in April 2022. During his 36-year career, he has worked in various capacities in the Health and Medical Education Department, Planning Development & Monitoring Department, Public Works Department, Power Dev Development and Finance Department.

In recognition of his exceptional public service, the Jammu & Kashmir government conferred him with the UT award for meritorious public services in 2020.

The appointment of Tariq Ahmad Khan and Sanjeev Gupta to the Jammu & Kashmir Public Service Commission is a significant development as it will enhance the functioning of the commission. The Jammu & Kashmir Public Service Commission is responsible for conducting various civil service examinations and recruitments for the Jammu & Kashmir Administrative Service, Jammu & Kashmir Police Service, and Jammu & Kashmir Accounts Service.

With the appointment of experienced and capable individuals like Tariq Ahmad Khan and Sanjeev Gupta, the commission is expected to function more efficiently and transparently. This will not only benefit the commission but also the aspirants who are preparing for various civil service examinations in Jammu & Kashmir.
