FROM LANDLESSNESS TO OWNERSHIP

For thousands of landless households, the government of Jammu and Kashmir’s unprecedented decision to establish a land allotment initiative for disadvantaged families signals a new beginning and a glimmer of optimism. Each beneficiary of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Gramin) scheme, which the Administrative Council approved on June 21, 2023, will receive 5 Marlas of land. The effects of this programme on low-income households cannot be overstated.
