MoU Signing: Collaboration between GCOE Jammu and Shilpakari Bazaar for Cultural Entrepreneurship
Skill Development Course Begins at GCOE Jammu
10-07-2023 : Prof Aekta Gupta, Principal of the college today inaugurated Value Added Course in Skill Development in Regional Art and Handicrafts. The trainers have been invited from Shilpakari Bazaar, a MSME Unit of Udyam. In the five-day long hands-on workshop, the students will be trained in Basholi Paintings, Wheat Grass Artifacts made up of bio-friendly material by the trainers. The objective of the workshop is to promote Indian Knowledge System and Regional Cultural practices that propagate sustainable development.
In the inaugural session, Prof Aekta Gupta said that it is high time that our youngsters should take up this initiative and strengthen the rural economy by promoting bio-friendly products. She added that the students can assist the Village Self Help Group of Women to market their bio-friendly products through their social media platforms like Instagram, and Facebook. She added that the promotion of wheat grass articles will also help in replacing plastics and it will help in saving the environment. A batch of 30 students is getting trained in the first initiative. The inaugural session was attended by all the faculty members. IIC, IQAC, WDC, and the NSS unit of GCOE, Jammu are jointly organizing this workshop. Dr. Shubhra Jamwal is the coordinator of the program.
A Memorandum of Understanding was also signed between GCOE Jammu and Shilpkari Bazaar, a start-up meant for the promotion of Dogra art, culture and heritage. The aim of the workshop is to develop entrepreneurship in eco-friendly products which is the dire need of the hour.
