14-07-2023: Five days Value Added Skill course in Basohli Paintings and Wheat Grass Artifacts concluded at GCOE under the patronage of Prof Aekta Gupta, Principal of the college. In the valedictory session, she exhorted the students to come forward and establish their own start-ups in making Basohli Paintings which are now in high demand after getting the GI tag. She also motivated the students to popularize bio-friendly artefacts like the traditional Binna, wheat grass baskets, and other articles that can replace plastics thus it will resolve many issues like the menace of plastics, saving heritage and generating employment through vocal for local schemes.
JenabSohailKazmi was the Guest of Honor on the occasion. He appreciated the efforts of the students and the college for reviving the old traditions which were not only environment friendly but also acted as de-stressing activities. Such activities also develop the dignity of labor and make a person self-reliant also. During the five-day workshop, the students were trained by Resource Persons from Shilpkari Bazar. MsSanchaita Pradhan and her team trained the students.
Assistant Director Ms Sarita Parihar (JKAS) from the Department of Handicrafts, Chief Guest of the program also applauded the efforts of the college in reviving the heritage of J&K. She apprised the students about various government schemes related to the promotion of artisans and skilled crafts personals. The program was jointly organized by IQAC, WDC, IIC, and NSS of GCOE Jammu. The program was coordinated by DrShubhraJamwal, NSS, PO of the college. The program was attended by all the faculty members.
