Farmers’ awareness program on the cultivation of Lemongrass held at Reasi
The programme has been launched on the instructions of Principal Secretary Agriculture Production & Farmers Welfare, J&K, Navin Kumar Choudhary.
REASI, NOVEMBER 26: A Farmers’ awareness program on the promotion and cultivation of Lemongrass was held here at village Pouni.
A unique initiative has been started jointly by the Agriculture Department, Indian Institute of Integrated Medicine (IIIM) Jammu, and District Administration Reasi to promote the cultivation of Lemongrass in the Reasi district.
The programme has been launched on the instructions of Principal Secretary Agriculture Production & Farmers Welfare, J&K, Navin Kumar Choudhary.
The participants were emphasized to switch over to the cultivation of Lemongrass on the land that was earlier kept fallow due to monkey menace as monkeys do not feed on Lemongrass. They were apprised that the lemongrass cultivation would help in income generation by means of extracting lemongrass oil and other processed products like incense sticks that are in high demand in the market. Those present on the occasion were SMS (DL), Amit Sharma, ASCO, Deepak Singh, SDAO Reasi, Guldev Raj, I/C AEO Pouni, Narinder Kumar, Concerned AEAs, besides Sarpanch, Neelam Kumari, and other PRI members.
