PDP Affirms Allegiance to INDIA Bloc Amid Speculations of Departure: Clarification and Commitment

Rumors Dispelled: PDP Denies Reports of Exiting Alliance, Vows to Uphold Unity

Srinagar,19-02-2024 : The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) dismissed rumors of leaving the INDIA bloc, affirming its dedication to the alliance’s unity. Through an official statement, the PDP refuted claims circulating in the media regarding a potential departure from the alliance, emphasizing its steadfast commitment to unity and collaboration within the coalition. The party’s stance comes amidst speculations suggesting its withdrawal from the INDIA bloc and intentions to contest the upcoming Lok Sabha elections independently. Responding to these reports, the PDP urged the public to disregard such misinformation, labeling it as fabricated and malicious.

This clarification follows recent controversies surrounding the alliance, including statements from other political leaders indicating shifts in electoral strategies. Last week, National Conference leader Farooq Abdullah hinted at his party’s independent participation in the elections, sparking debates about the alliance’s cohesion. However, Omar Abdullah, the party’s vice-president, swiftly addressed the speculations, reaffirming the National Conference’s commitment to the INDIA bloc. While dismissing rumors of a split, Omar Abdullah clarified the party’s position on seat sharing, particularly in the Kashmir region, where it secured all three Lok Sabha seats in the previous elections. He hinted at a potential collaboration on seats currently held by the BJP in the Jammu region and Ladakh, highlighting the complexities of electoral alliances and strategies in the region.
