Jammu, 11-03-2024: In keeping with its policy of promoting heritage and pilgrimage sites and lesser frequented beauty spots of Jammu through a series of short treks Tawi Trekkers J&K, the pioneer trekking club of Jammu, organized a day long trek to Devi Pindian, exclusively for girls.
The group of 141 students of PS PS Govt College for Women, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu was led by Sanjeevani Bhardwaj, an executive member of the club, under the overall supervision of Sonam Sidharth and Shawetica Khajuria, General Secretary and President respectively of the club. Shashi Kant, Suksham Verma and Ananjan Raghav Khajuria also accompanied the group for better coordination during the trek.
Starting the 10 kms to & fro trek for Devi Pindian from Kunia Nursery, 2 kms from Panthal, the trekkers enjoyed beautiful panoramic views of the lofty Trikuta hills which unfolded before them as they trekked on a narrow stones strewn trail along a small concrete stream of water. Down below the trekkers witnessed grand spectacle of crystal clear, gushing and cascading waters of Jajjar rivulet which has its origin at Devi Pindian. Reaching the Devi Pindian shrine the trekkers were enchanted by the sublime atmosphere and serenity of the place where as per legend the Goddess Vaishno Devi resides for nine months in a year.
After the conclusion of the trek the trekkers thanked the management of Tawi Trekkers for giving them an opportunity to participate in such a wonderful activity.
It is pertinent to mention here that under its series of Short trek programme to popularise heritage sites and potential tourism spots of Jammu for soft adventure activities the club has been regularly conducting such one day treks from Mohoregarh to Mansar, Dhergarh to Mansar, Bhuvnergarh to Mansar, Kattal Battal to Aitham via Pahairh Devta for the last four years. Lately a 12 km trek from Sagoon to Purmandal was also organised by the club for 100 girls in collaboration with Tourism Department Jammu.
