Lone’s distasteful gesture against National Anthem loathsome, anti-national: Kavinder

JAMMU,17-10-2024:  Senior BJP leader and former deputy chief minister Kavinder Gupta on Thursday termed disrespect shown by NC Lawmaker from Sonawari Hilal Akbar Lone against the National Anthem as loathsome and anti-national.

In a statement issued to media persons, the BJP stalwart leader said that the distasteful gesture of the NC MLA during the oath-taking ceremony of CM Omar Abdullah showing disrespect towards the National Anthem by breaching the protocol of standing has vindicated the stand of BJP that there are constituents in the National Conference having an anti-national mindset.

Kavinder said that earlier also the same man had raised pro-Pak slogans in the Assembly of the erstwhile State of J&K, inviting ire from all present in the arena in 2018. He said that NC high command should take cognizance of the aforesaid issue and ask their leaders to mend their ways as disrespecting entities like the National Anthem will not be tolerated.

The senior BJP functionary has also sought action under law against the NC Legislator, terming the action by him as unacceptable and impertinent. He called for an unconditional apology from the NC legislator, stating that Lone’s gesture had hurt the sentiments of patriotic citizens across the nation. He underscored the importance of respecting national symbols, pointing out that disrespecting them not only damages national unity but also reflects poorly on the leadership of the parties associated with individuals who indulge in such behavior.
