Akanksha Gupta, Aryaveer Dewan Shine with Major Upset Wins at Sub-Junior & Junior National Squash Championships

Maharashtra’s Akanksha and Delhi’s Aryaveer stun top seeds to storm into semifinals at Chennai’s Indian Squash Academy

CHENNAI, Oct 30 — Maharashtra’s Akanksha Gupta and Delhi’s Aryaveer Dewan recorded stunning victories to move into the semifinals of the Sub-Junior & Junior National Squash Championships 2025 at the Indian Squash Academy on Wednesday.

Akanksha Gupta produced one of the day’s biggest upsets, rallying from a game down to defeat second seed Navya Sundararajan of Uttar Pradesh 10-12, 11-4, 11-6, 11-6 in the Under-19 girls’ quarterfinals.

In another major upset, Delhi’s Aryaveer Dewan (seeded 5/8) stunned top seed Subhash Choudhary of Rajasthan with a dominant 11-9, 11-6, 11-2 win in the Under-17 boys’ quarterfinals, advancing to the last four with a commanding performance.

The tournament witnessed several intense encounters across ten categories as young talents from across India battled for semifinal berths.
