Army Commander Assesses Troop Readiness in Ladakh
Lt Gen Pratik Sharma visits forward areas, praises troops’ morale, flags mountaineering expedition
Leh, Sep 30: General Officer Commanding in Chief, Northern Command, Lt Gen Pratik Sharma, visited forward areas in the Union Territory of Ladakh to review the operational preparedness of troops, the Army said on Monday.
Arriving in Leh on September 27, Lt Gen Sharma assessed the readiness of formations deployed along critical fronts, including the Siachen Brigade, units in Eastern Ladakh, and the Karakoram Pass. He lauded the “high morale and steadfast commitment” of all ranks serving in extreme conditions.
During his visit, the Army Commander interacted with National Flag Quiz winners at the Siachen Base Camp, commending their patriotic spirit. He also flagged off a mountaineering expedition to a peak over 7,000 metres, praising the team’s indomitable spirit and describing the effort as a “new benchmark in mountaineering excellence.”
Earlier on September 27, Lt Gen Sharma met Ladakh Lieutenant Governor Kavinder Gupta to discuss the prevailing security situation in violence-hit Leh. The meeting focused on strengthening coordination between civil administration and the armed forces to address emerging challenges and maintain peace and stability in the region.
